The role of the Committee

The Committee plays an important role in the leadership, governance and ongoing development of Te Atatū AFC.

As the club’s governing body, the Committee is responsible for managing, directing and supervising the club’s operations and affairs, and has the powers necessary to carry out these responsibilities.

Our aim is to bring together people with a diverse range of skills, experience and backgrounds to help guide the club and represent our footballing and wider community.

Could you be part of the Te Atatū AFC Committee?

You don’t need previous committee experience or to be a football expert. We’re looking for people who are passionate about our club and community, bring different skills and perspectives, and want to help make a positive difference.

What skills are we looking for?

You might be a great fit if you have experience or an interest in:

• Leadership, planning or project management

• Administration, organisation or coordination

• Marketing, communications, social media or website management

• Business development, sales or relationship management

• Fundraising, events or community engagement

• Health and safety, facilities or operations

• Junior or youth sport, coaching or working with families

You don’t need to have all the skills listed, and you don’t need previous committee experience. Transferable skills from your work, volunteering or other interests can be just as valuable.

Most importantly, we’re looking for people who want to contribute, work collaboratively and help Te Atatū AFC continue to be a great club for our players, families and wider community.

Where could you contribute?

1. Leadership & Governance

• Providing leadership and strategic direction, bringing people together and helping the Committee work towards shared goals.

• Supporting club administration, including meeting coordination, agendas, minutes and record keeping.

2. Communications & Media

• Supporting social media, website updates, newsletters and club communications, and promoting our teams and community. Ideal for someone with communication, marketing, digital or creative skills.

3. Club Funding & Community Partnerships

• Developing fundraising ideas and supporting activities that benefit the club and its members.

• Building relationships with local businesses, identifying sponsorship opportunities and maintaining relationships with our sponsors.

4. Facilities, Operations & Health and Safety

• Supporting the management of club facilities, equipment, resources and day-to-day operations.

• Helping promote a safe environment across club activities, facilities and events.

5. Football & Player Development

• Contributing to the ongoing development of football across the club, from First Kicks and junior football through to youth and senior teams.

• Helping foster a positive, inclusive and enjoyable football environment for players, coaches, families and whānau.

Life Membership is one of the highest honours the Club can award and recognises an individual who has made an outstanding and lasting contribution to Te Atatū AFC.

Any Club Member can nominate an individual for Life Membership by providing the grounds for their nomination. Nominations will be considered by the Committee, who will determine whether the nomination should be put forward to a General Meeting for consideration by Members.

A Life Member must be elected by Special Resolution at a General Meeting and must consent to becoming a Life Member.

The AGM is an opportunity for Members to raise matters they would like the Club to discuss or consider.

Members can submit a matter, proposal or other business for consideration at the AGM. This could include a suggestion, issue, change or idea that you would like the Club to discuss or take action on.
