First Kicks & Fun Football
Te Atatū Football First Kicks and Fun Football is on offer for our youngest players.
Our program is aligned with NZ Football’s Whole of Football Framework, which aims to allow players to experience age appropriate football games and coaching in a program that is specifically tailored to meet their football wants and needs.
We celebrate involvement, effort and success; and encourage parents to cheer the kids on, get involved and make it fun. The aim for our youngest club members is to not only develop some early football skills, but more importantly to encourage a love for the game and lead to a lifelong love of football.
It’s also a chance for you as their parents/guardians to get involved in football and learn a little about supporting your kids’ football development while you’re still likely to be a bit better than them!
FIRST KICKS - U4-U7
Te Atatū Football First Kicks is an in-house, non-competition program for our 4-7 year old players - Born 2019 to 2022.
Our First Kicks program teaches kids the basics of the game. This includes the concept of a team, how to dribble and pass, keeping the ball in the field of play, scoring goals and defending your goal. For our youngest players, getting them involved and on the field is the primary goal, and sometimes that takes mum or dad holding their hand on the field until they’re happy (and that’s ok with us!)
TRAINING / SKILLS SESSIONS
Starting: Weekly 0n Tuesdays from 28th April
Times:
U4 to U6 - 4pm - 5pm
U7 - 4:30pm - 5:30pm

U7 - 8:45am - 9:45am
Location: Te Atatu Peninsula Park, Neil Ave
We follow the winter season playing dates, running a skills session mid-week as well as our game days on Saturday morning.
Skills/training sessions are used to further develop football skills by a combination of fun exercises and small sided games.
Game Day is Saturday morning from 8am. The children are placed into small teams on the day, within their age group and skill level. They will play small sided games against their own age groups, 3v3 or 4v4 depending on numbers.
That means if you turn up you will ALWAYS get a game and if you are away then you haven’t let your team down!

GIRLS ONLY OPTIONS
FIRST KICKS U4-U7
For our youngest players, we don’t have set teams so often mix together boys and girls each week depending on numbers and preferences. We encourage players to have fun with their friends and we can group children accordingly.
FUN FOOTBALL U8-U9
Te Atatu is excited to be a HUB for our West Auckland U8-U9 girls.
This means we will combine these age groups and host the other West Auckland clubs each Saturday morning for Game Day.
Depending on numbers, we will look to place those interested in this option into smaller teams for Game Days, but still train together as a larger grade squad.
Training days/times TBC
VOLUNTEERS / COACHES / GAME DAY MANAGERS
We need loads of volunteers to help so that our kids can have a great football season. You do not need to have any “football skills” to help out, just enthusiasm.
Our club wouldn’t survive without volunteers across all parts of the club. Here are some ways you can get involved:
Saturday mornings - Game day leaders (helping run a game - keep the kids moving and having fun), field set up and pack up
U8-U9s - Coach or Game Day managers - no experience required, we will help with resources and training games.
Training/Skills sessions - Rotation Station leaders - running a training drill, helping setup etc
Please reach out if you are interested in helping out or want to know more - juniors@teatatufootball.org
